About MLG Founder

The MiraLite Group (MLG) is a boutique human resources and management consulting practice, initially launched in 2007. MLG (with its Strategic Partners) provides consulting services and coaching in the areas of:  leadership (with an emphasis on developing women, emerging and Millennial leaders); the human dimensions of change and transformation; and diversity, equity & inclusion.

Barbara Murphy-Warrington is the founder of MLG. MiraLite’s name and logo were inspired by Mira, a dwarf star, which is one of the brightest stars in the night sky. The strength of Mira’s light varies, reminding Barbara of the ebb and flow of life, and the importance of providing the right consulting support at the right time to organizations and individuals as they go through the process of change and transformation.

Barbara has 25+ years of senior leadership experience working in and consulting with major global and domestic organizations,  providing advice and services in the areas of global and domestic human resources, executive and leadership development, diversity, equity & inclusion, change management, and labor and employment law.  She is recognized for her strategic leadership, advice and development of the people resources of organizations. She has deep experience in coaching an array of individuals — boards, executive and C-Suite leaders, middle managers, emerging diverse and women leaders in multiple countries, and Millenials.

She held senior operating positions as Resident Council, and global, national or regional head of Human Resources at the Ford Foundation, Care International (USA), Catholic Heath East (Trinity Health), and Janney Montgomery Scott, respectively.

In addition to leading and being a part of major organizational change initiatives, Barbara was CEO of Girl Scouts in New York City for 6+ years. Supported by an engaged board and a talented staff, Barbara led the organization in implementing a bold new vision and in launching a successful capital campaign. Under her leadership, the organization achieved major financial, operational and programmatic/business goals, and more than doubled net assets. As a result, the organization received a 4-Star quality rating in 2014 and 2016—the highest rating given by Charity Navigator.

Barbara is a Certified Trainer for the HeartMath® Institute*, which is a leading authority on building resilience and optimizing personal effectiveness.  The HeartMath system has practical, heart-based tools and technologies that can be used to enhance performance (especially in the context of change and transformation), well-being, and health. The system is widely used by Fortune 500 companies, the military, hospitals, clinics, schools, and thousands of individuals around the world. She also holds a graduate certificate in Executive Coaching from the Fielding Graduate University.

She has published articles in the Wall Street Journal (A. T. Kearney’s series, America@250) and Anchor Magazine, and her views have appeared frequently in print media and on local (NYC)/national TV. Also, Barbara has spoken frequently on leadership, gender issues in the workplace, diversity, and preparing the next generation of emerging and women leaders.  She has been an invited speaker for major organizations such as BNY Mellon’s Global Women’s Initiative Network, Ellevate, and Women in Development.

Through the work of MLG, Barbara is deeply committed to helping organizations and individuals be their best, embody their values, and be change agents in creating positive futures through their contributions to their workplaces, communities, and the world.

“The poem, Cow Path’s of the Mind, by Sam Foss, along with Mahatma Ghandi’s quote, “Be the change you want to see in the world”, are my constant reminders not to be tied to what has always been done and to be willing to look beyond the familiar, especially when it no longer serves the future. I hope we have the opportunity to work together.”
